Community Forum - New Land Use Rules

  • Arch Cape Fire Station 72979 Hwy 101 Arch Cape, OR 97102 USA (map)
  • Click here to view the flyer.
  • Please join your neighbors for a community forum to learn about rulemaking underway at the State Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD).
  • The "Housing in Unincorporated Communities" rulemaking would give counties new powers to rezone and expand the boundaries of rural communities like Arch Cape for urban development, including denser housing and commercial development like gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants.
  • We'll hear from a panel of land use experts including Leila Aman, Community Development Director at DCLD, and Robert Liberty, a land use attorney and former Executive Director of 1,000 Friends of Oregon.
  • We will also talk about opportunities for public involvement in the rulemaking, including a public comment period that runs from Nov. 1-Dec. 13, and a public hearing to be scheduled December 3 or 4.
  • Your Community Club board raised concerns about the rulemaking in a recent Tunnel Echoes story and in comments submitted to the State Land Conservation and Development Commission in August.
  • The intention of this forum is to inform and educate neighbors about the rulemaking and opportunities for public involvement.
